Designer Research+Event Design

Project type

Typography1

This project was started with researching a designer covering..
- What interested you more about this designer?
- What is the purpose of their work, are/were they raising awareness, responding to world events, etc?
- When was the designer working? Time period.
- What part of the world are/were they working in?
- Some biographical information, for example where were they born, where did they go to school, what influenced them as designers?
- Did they collaborate with other designers or artists from their region who inspired them?
- Talk some about their design philosophy and process
- Focus a bit of time on what is visually appealing within their work to you.
And then students wrote a research paper with APA style.

Based on their research, they created an event where the designer will “participate” and designed event promotion such as a poster, a 12-page booklet, and a ticket.

The objective of the project is to understand the relationship between visual elements and typography and how those can be used in solving communication problems for a defined audience. Students needed to be looking at scale, hierarchy, sequence, typographic grids, and placement in order to engage the viewer and to maintain focus on the most important aspects
of what you are trying to present (a purpose of the items).
